Conscious Cartoons Coming Soon to Vashon Island, Washington

The producers of the Conscious Cartoons International Animation Festival, which starts September 14-16 on Vashon Island, Washington, are calling it the first of its kind worldwide. Conscious Cartoons will feature three days of animated shorts – many of them award winning – from around the world with socially conscious, humanist themes. The festival includes something for everyone, from kids to adults. The goal is to harness the power of animation to inspire compassion and provide insights into the human condition in ways that live action media often fails to do.

Screenvision Presenting Scarface on Screens Nationwide

Universal Pictures, Screenvision Media and the Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, announced today the return of Scarface to movie theatres nationwide, in celebration of its 35th anniversary. In addition, film fans outside of New York will have the chance to participate in a Tribeca Film Festival retrospective event on the big screen for the first time ever.

Cinema Anywhere on Display at Cannes Film Festival

The patented technology Cinema Anywhere, a public screening platform from Israeli start-up Muvix, is on display at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Cinema Anywhere provides public screening as a service, and enables on-demand screening of any content in any public place, indoors and outdoors. During the festival, Muvix will operate a smart cinema in the Israeli pavilion, where films of Israeli filmmakers will be screened to festival visitors.

Streamlined Workflow Helped Complete Donbass

Donbass, a new movie by Ukrainian writer/director Sergei Loznitsa, is to be shown as a work-in-progress version at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. Post-production was to a tight timescale – shooting only wrapped in March – and Bucharest facility Digital Cube used a Baselight grading suite to ensure delivery while retaining full creative control over the look.

AlphaDogs Completes Effects Work on Krieg

AlphaDogs has completed work on the new WWII short film Krieg. Directed and produced by Jeff Fry, Krieg follows the journey of a Waffen-SS officer who chooses to do the right thing while serving on the wrong side of a world at war. His remorse for inaction in the face of murder compels him to risk all in order to protect a wounded enemy airman.
