Maze Runner Sequel Opens in Barco Escape

Last year Barco Escape debuted to audiences in the United States and Europe with The Maze Runner, earning rave reviews from moviegoers and critics. Directed by Wes Ball and released this month by 20th Century Fox, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials picks up where the original film left off, with Gladers facing a new set of challenges on the open roads of a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles.

Cinépolis Installs Barco Escape Format

Cinépolis, one of the world’s largest exhibitors, is installing Latin America’s first Barco Escape theater at its Paseo Acoxpa Mexico City location. Twentieth Century Fox’s Maze Runner 2: The Scorch Trials will be the first film released in Latin America in Barco’s multi-screen, fully immersive movie format when it premieres on September 11.

Marcus Theatres to Install CJ 4DPlex Immersive Seats

CJ 4DPlex has entered into an agreement with Marcus Theatres, the fifth-largest theatre chain in the United States, to bring 4DX technology to the Chicago market for the first time. After having its U.S. debut in Los Angeles last year, and announcing plans to be available in two New York theatres later this year, this new relationship paves the way for the immersive five-sense cinematic experience to its third U.S. market.

Six New 4DX Sites Open in Japan

CJ 4DPlex opened 17 new sites this month, including six in Japan the fastest-growing 4DX market in the world. The six new 4DX auditoriums include three new openings with existing partner United Cinemas, which added screens in Sapporo, and Maebashi and Kasukabe, in the suburbs of Tokyo.

Barco Escape to Barcelona

As European motion picture professionals gather in Barcelona this week for the start of CineEurope 2015, Barco will once again be highlighting the Barco Escape format, arguably one of the hits of this year’s CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Prior to CineEurope I got a progress report from Barco executives and some Escape customers about the new format and how exhibitors and audiences have responded to it so far.

Deluxe Services Now Include VR and Immersive Entertainment

Deluxe Entertainment Services today announced a new slate of technology and services to develop content for immersive entertainment and virtual reality experiences. Coinciding with this announcement, Deluxe has recently completed work on Neuro, developed with creative VR studio Kite & Lightning for GE, debuting today at the E3 Expo in Los Angeles, California.
