Screenvision Partners with Mobcrush to Reach Gamers

Screenvision Media today announced a partnership with Mobcrush to introduce an entirely new way for advertisers to reach the highly coveted gaming audience. Screenvision will utilize Mobcrush's live multicasting platform to deliver a first-of-its kind sponsored live-break that is initiated when creators, who are using Mobcrush to broadcast their gameplay, step away from their streams. The live-breaks include streamer highlight reels that allow advertisers to reach more than 40 million unique, Nielsen-rated U.S. monthly viewers.

Entertainment Globalization Association Formed, Fetner Named Director

Today, 10 founding companies and 50 forming companies have announced their collaboration to create the entertainment industry's first association focused specifically on entertainment globalization. The Entertainment Globalization Association has been formed to create a closer connection to the creative community to better facilitate the retelling of their stories for global audiences. Globalization is defined as dubbing, subtitling, and audio description services, which allow content to be consumed in languages other than the original version. The founding companies of the association are Audiomaster Candiani, Deluxe, Hiventy, Iyuno Media Group, Keywords Studios, Plint, SDI Media, Visual Data Media Services, VSI, and Zoo Digital.

With the growth of Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime and Apple TV, to name just a few, the international audience for film and television has never been bigger or more diverse. And the need for accurate and coherent subtitles – both for artistic and economic reasons – has never been more important. For two decades Dr. Vasilis Manousakis, the Literature, Literary and Audiovisual Translation instructor at Hellenic American College in Athens, Greece, has been subtitling and translating a broad range of genres, series and films produced by HBO, Disney, Universal Pictures, Warner Bros. and Netflix, among them Lost, The Good Place, Star Wars and Game of Thrones.

Swiss Pirate Network KBoxServ Shut Down

Canal+ Group and the Kudelski Group have shut down a piracy organization based in Canton of Vaud in the Lake Geneva region that delivered French-speaking on-demand content to thousands of customers. It is the first piracy shutdown of its kind in Switzerland. The operation is the result of a criminal complaint from Canal+ Group and Nagra, the digital TV division of the Kudelski Group, to the Vaud Police, which led the effort with the support of Europol, the law enforcement agency of the European Union, and Eurojust, the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation.

Scales Now in Cinemas Across Saudi Arabia

After achieving critical acclaim during an award-winning tour of global film festivals, Image Nation Abu Dhabi’s feature film Scales (Sayidat Al Bahr) will be screening in cinemas in Saudi Arabia this week, after it was picked up by Saudi distributor Cinewaves Films. Viewers will be able to experience the debut film from Saudi Arabian writer-director Shahad Ameen in cinemas across Riyadh, Jeddah, Tabuk, Jizan and the Eastern Province in its first theatrical release.

Amazon’s Felicia Yue to Speak at Women in Technology Luncheon November 12

The Hollywood Professional Association and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers announced today that Felicia Yue, principal product manager at Amazon and veteran sports technology innovator, will be in conversation at the annual Women in Technology Luncheon on Thursday, November 12, presented by HPA Women in Post and SMPTE. The event takes place during the popular annual technology conference SMPTE 2020. Yue will be in conversation with Loren Nielsen and Kari Grubin, co-chairs of the HPA Women in Post Committee.
