Vidiyum Munn, a dark suspense thriller by director Balaji K. Kumar, will premiere in theaters across India in Auro 11.1 by Barco. Kumar says he discovered the capabilities of Auro while watching Vishwaroopam, the first Indian movie to feature the new format.
The Lichtburg cinema in Essen has converted both of its theatres to digital with Kinoton technology. The Lichtburg, one of Germany’s largest and oldest cinemas; it recently celebrated its 85th birthday and one of its theatres seats 1250 people.
Opening night at Teatro alla Scala will be broadcast in high definition by satellite to audiences in cinemas worldwide. The event takes place annually on December 7, the feast day of Milan’s patron saint, Saint Ambrose. Dolby Laboratories and Cinema 21, the largest cinema chain in Indonesia, announced today that it is the first in Indonesia to install the Dolby Atmos sound platform. The first Dolby Atmos film to be showcased at Cinema XXI EpiCentrum, one of the biggest theatres owned by Cinema 21, will be Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which began screening today.
Finnkino Oy has selected Advertising Accord software developed by Unique Digital to drive their full conversion to DCP pre-show management and distribution, making Finnkino Media the only cinema advertising company in Finland. The new technology will enable them to supply pre-show content to 20 cinemas and 113 screens accounting for over 80 percent of the box-office admissions in the country.
Moviegoers in India’s southeastern state of Andhra Pradesh will soon discover what it means to be truly immersed in sound. A hundred theaters will soon be equipped with Auro 11.1 by Barco sound technology. Two post-production and mixing facilities belonging to Ramanaidu Studios – all collaborating with film production company Suresh Productions – will install the certified Auro-3D Studio System.
Barco and its integration partner RCC Trading are currently working hard to convert all Nu Metro theaters fully digital by December.
