After a year’s delay caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Omniplex Killarney in Kerry, Ireland is officially open for business. “The reopening of cinemas in Ireland is a seminal moment for cinema lovers,” said Mark Anderson, director of Omniplex Cinemas.

World Wrestling Entertainment is set to air its annual SummerSlam pay-per-view in movie theatres nationwide for the first time. In partnership with Iconic Events Releasing, SummerSlam will be available in select theaters, including some ShowBiz Cinemas, when it airs live on August 21 at 7 pm Central Time.
The Independent Cinema Alliance’s board of directors has named Rich Daughtridge ICA’s new president. Daughtridge, who is president and CEO of Maryland-based Warehouse Cinemas and a member of the ICA board, succeeds Byron Berkley, who retired June 30.

Sharp NEC today announced the availability of the NC1202L laser light source projector, an addition to its digital cinema projection series. Designed specifically for smaller screens at 7,000 lumens, the company says the NC1202L is the ideal projection technology for standard sized movie theatres or projection booths that require high-quality cinema projection.
Earlier this year, the Multicines Mall del Rio Guayaquil in Guayaquil, Ecuador became the only cinema project to be started and developed in Latin America during the COVID-19 pandemic. The theatre has 11 auditoriums, including a 4D Emotion + 3D screen and a premium large format screen called MCX – Multicines Xtreme. CES+ was the integrator on the project.
