Rising Sun Pictures helped to recreate one of the most thrilling events in the history of auto racing for Ford v Ferrari, the new film from 20th Century Fox and director James Mangold. The studio produced 223 visual effects shots for the film, the majority for an eight-minute sequence depicting the first 24 Hours of Daytona race in 1966. Artists created a historically accurate, digital replica of the famous speedway and filled it with cheering fans.
Panasonic announced that its new AJ-CX4000, a 4K/HDR shoulder-mount camcorder with B4 lens mount and interchangeable lens, will be available at the end of December at a suggested list price of $25,000. Ideal for nature films and documentaries, the AJ-CX4000 follows the handheld AG-CX350 to expand the CX Series of 4K camcorders.

Veteran colorist, Anthony Raffaele, whose work includes Café Society, Mapplethorpe and Fahrenheit 11/9, has joined the finishing staff at Sim New York. With credits spread across features, episodic television and high-end documentaries, Raffaele brings versatility and experience to Sim, along with established relationships with top filmmakers and cinematographers.
James Longeretta, owner of post-production systems provider Vortechs, has teamed with veteran supervising sound editor/re-recording mixer Joe Schultz (Once Upon a Time, Lost, Amazing Stories for Apple TV) to launch Waterman Sound. The facility offers sound editorial, sound design, mixing, and automated dialogue replacement from its newly built studio in Toluca Lake, California. The company has hired ADR mixer Marilyn Morris (Captain Marvel, Miss Sloane), formerly of Skywalker Sound and Dubbing Brothers, to helm its ADR stage
Veteran colorist Kevin Michael Kirwan (American Crime Story, American Horror Story) has joined Periscope Post & Audio. Kirwan brings more than 20 years of experience as a senior colorist and credits on more than 40 television series. At Periscope, he will perform final color out of an all-new color-grading suite in Periscope’s facility in Hollywood, which launched earlier this year.

The new facility is fully 4K and Dolby Atmos capable and comprises a 10-seat theatre built around a NEC 4K projector and fed by a Doremi digital cinema server. A Dolby Atmos CP950 sound processor is linked to JBL speakers and Crown amplifiers.
