Goldcrest Post Adjusts to the Coronavirus Outbreak

In response to the coronavirus outbreak, Goldcrest Post has established the capability to conduct most picture and sound post-production work remotely. Colorists, conform editors and other staff are now able to work from home or a remote site and connect to the facility’s central storage and technical resources via remote collaboration software. Clients can monitor work through similar secure, fast and reliable desktop connections.

Netflix Dramatically Out Produced Amazon in 2019, Study Says

Netflix in 2019 launched about nine times as much original programming as its chief video-streaming rival Amazon, reflecting the divergent business models of the two companies, a new study shows. Last year, Netflix released 2,701 hours’ worth of original programming, compared to just 314 hours for Amazon Prime Video, according to the Omdia Original Online Production Report – 2020.

DTLA Film Festival Postponed Indefinitely Due to Pandemic

The 12th edition of DTLA Film Festival, a leading annual showcase for indie films in Los Angeles, has announced that it will postpone its 12th edition until further notice. Citing the worsening Covid-19 coronavirus epidemic and recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and other agencies for all citizens to avoid public events, festival organizers said the time had come to pull the plug on this year’s festival.

Goldcrest Announces Death of Production Head Jay Tilin

With profound sadness, New York's Goldcrest Post announces the passing of post-production industry pioneer Jay Tilin on February 12 after a long illness. Head of production at Goldcrest Post since 2017, Tilin worked in the industry as an editor, visual effects artist and executive for 40 years. His many notable credits include the Netflix series Marco Polo, and the series Treme and True Detective for HBO.

Bringing a Classic to the Big Screen

DP Nicolaj Bruel and director Matteo Garrone, who first worked together on the award-winning 2018 feature film Dogman, recently repeated their collaboration on the live action Italian language feature film Pinocchio, starring Oscar winner Roberto Benigni. A live action adaptation of the classic fairy tale about a wooden puppet that is brought to life, the production had to be right on many levels.
