Freelance cinematographer Neil Fernandez, owner of Lucky Finn Productions, has traveled to the Black Rock Desert to shoot a short about Burning Man, along Route 66 filming Alien Highway for the Travel Channel and to Bora Bora, Jamaica and the Bahamas to shoot various swimsuit campaigns.

Ymagis Names Benoît Jacheet CFO

Ymagis Group today announced the appointment of Benoît Jacheet as chief financial officer. He succeeds Jean Firôme in the position. Jacheet joined Ymagis Group’s finance department last month to assist in its current financial restructuring. Videohouse Upgrades its Subtitling Capabilities

Belgium media facility Videohouse recently upgraded its SubtitleNext Explorer and Expert software suites from PBT EU, primarily for creating subtitles for TV series and movies. Videohouse chose SubtitleNext in September 2018, to enhance its content services department. Since then, Videohouse has been working nonstop on several projects that have been subtitled using SubtitleNext. Recent notable projects include series Vikings, Big Little Lies and Siren.

Sony Announces HFR Upgrades for Venice

Sony has announced that, following the Version 4.0 firmware release this June for its Venice digital cinema camera, which includes a high frame rate license to support 120fps at 4K 2.39:1, 110fps at 4K 17:9, 75fps at 4K 4:3 and 60fps at 6K 3:2, Venice’s Version 5.0 update will further enable cinematographers to shoot at speeds of up to 90fps at 6K 2.39:1 and 72fps at 6K 17:9/1.85:1. This addition enables Venice to capture three times slow motion at 24p, even in 6K. Cinematographers can utilize the same camera across multiple speeds, maintaining the full-frame shallow depth of field, as well as the high picture quality of oversampling in 6K.

Jellyfish Pictures Expands with Animation Studio in Sheffield

Award winning VFX and animation studio Jellyfish Pictures has opened a new virtual animation facility in Sheffield. The move continues Jellyfish Pictures’ pioneering efforts, after creating Europe’s first virtual VFX studios in 2017. The new site is the company’s fifth studio in the UK and is in addition to Jellyfish Pictures’ established studios in Fitzrovia, Central London, Brixton, South London and Oval, South London.
