Intuitive Aerial will introduce a compact, ergonomic controller for the Aerigon the airborne camera platform for professional film and broadcast production, at IBC 2015. The Dominion controller is a portable device that allows camera operators to guide camera movement, focus, and other camera settings on board the Aerigon while in flight. Broadcasters, cinematographers, directors, and production teams now have even greater control when capturing aerial footage using virtually any modern camera, thanks to Aerigon’s high payload capacity and industry-leading stability and precision.

Diversity Focus of SMPTE 2015

The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, today announced that the SMPTE 2015 Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition, October 27-29 in Hollywood, California, and related events will focus on fostering the presence and engagement of diversity in the industry, enriching it with colleagues representing a greater variety of experiences, perspectives, and voices. One highlight will be an appearance by Cheryl Boone Isaacs, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Marcus Theatres to Install CJ 4DPlex Immersive Seats

CJ 4DPlex has entered into an agreement with Marcus Theatres, the fifth-largest theatre chain in the United States, to bring 4DX technology to the Chicago market for the first time. After having its U.S. debut in Los Angeles last year, and announcing plans to be available in two New York theatres later this year, this new relationship paves the way for the immersive five-sense cinematic experience to its third U.S. market.

Technicolor PostWorks Recreates ‘80s Yonkers for Show Me a Hero

Post-production for Show Me a Hero, the new six-part drama debuting on HBO this month, recently wrapped up at Technicolor PostWorks New York. The post house handled dailies processing, editorial conforming, final color grading and deliverables. It also provided sound mixing through its PostWorks facility.

FuseFX gets Emmy Nod for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

FuseFX, the lead visual effects provider for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., is nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Visual Effects; the second straight year they’ve been so honored. They’ve also tallied three V.E.S. Award nominations and an Online Film & Television Award nomination over the course of the show’s first two seasons.

Village Cinemas, Argentina, Completes Digital Deployment with Christie

Village Cinemas, one of Argentina’s leading film theater chains, has completed its digitalization with the Christie Solaria Series. In the final phase of its digital roll out, Village Cinemas installed 38 Christie CP2220 projectors, making the majority of Village Cinemas’ 79 screens Christie installations.
