Golden Village at Bugis+ has opened a new multiplex in the heart of Singapore. The multiplex boasts modern elements including a stunning dome gesture centerpiece housing the ceiling of the cinema atrium. At the two sides of the lobby, the continuous die-cut panels provide an eye-catching design element as it leads patrons from the lobby escalator up into the movie halls.

Venice Upgrades Taoyuan City Cinema

Venice Cinemas has deployed a suite of innovative projection and content management solutions to deliver awe-inspiring visuals in its upgraded multiplex in Taoyuan City, Taiwan. Located in the bustling business district of Zhongli, Venice Cinemas is spread across two buildings connected by an iconic, red-colored pedestrian bridge reminiscent of those found in Venice, Italy. It recently underwent a major facelift by adding five new halls at the basement level, boosting the total number of cinema auditoriums from 10 to 15. These five new halls are equipped with 8.5-meter (27.8 foot) screens, adorned in special color schemes, and connected to a spacious lobby featuring highly immersive waterfall projections that accentuates the multiplex’s distinctive aquatic theme.

Cinépolis Pejaten Village Installs Christie Projectors

Cinépolis Pejaten Village in southern Jakarta is installing Christie projectors. This is the exhibitor’s first multiplex in Indonesia to be fully equipped with Christie RGB pure laser projectors. It houses five auditoriums fitted with Christie CP2309-RGB and CP2320-RGB models.

Shooting on Short Notice

The Long Walk is the third feature film by director Mattie Do (Chanthaly, Dearest Sister), who was raised in Los Angeles but relocated to Laos to become the country’s first, and only, female filmmaker. In an interview in Women and Hollywood, Do described her genre-bending film as “an unconventional time-travel thriller set in a forgotten rural village in Laos, about the ethos of a man, plagued by regret and loneliness, and his downward spiral into becoming a serial killer. He also has a very complicit ghostly friend.” Cinematographer Matthew Macar shot the low-budget feature over 32 days in Vientiane, Laos with very little prep time.

Qube Installs Epiq, South Asia’s Largest Movie Screen

Sullurpet, a small town in Andhra Pradesh, around 80 kilometers from Chennai, is now home to South Asia’s largest movie theatre screen, the 100-foot wide by 54-foot high Epiq. Chennai-based Qube cinemas unveiled the first of its kind premium large format screen last month. Qube Cinemas is one of India’s foremost providers of end-to-end digital cinema technology and solutions.
