With profound sadness, New York's Goldcrest Post announces the passing of post-production industry pioneer Jay Tilin on February 12 after a long illness. Head of production at Goldcrest Post since 2017, Tilin worked in the industry as an editor, visual effects artist and executive for 40 years. His many notable credits include the Netflix series Marco Polo, and the series Treme and True Detective for HBO.
As head of business development and a member of the executive management team at Rising Sun Pictures, Jennie Zeiher leads the team responsible for the visual effects studio’s forward slate of high-quality film and series projects. Cinionic, the Barco, CGS, and ALPD cinema joint venture, announced today that the award-winning Barco Series 4 laser projection platform has had commitments from global exhibitors for more than 8,000 units since its launch one year ago. According to the company, Cinionic leads in laser solutions with more than 20,000 units worldwide.

On the heels of a successful kick-off event in Los Angeles, the trade group Women in Exhibition is set to make its CinemaCon 2020 debut. Officially introduced at 2019’s Geneva Convention, Women in Exhibition serves as a networking hub for women within the film exhibition industry. Since its launch, the non-profit foundation has welcomed more than 100 new members. At WIE events in Los Angeles in January and at last year’s ShowEast, women gathered to chat, network, and have a little fun.
The Network of Independent Canadian Exhibitors has submitted evidence to the nation’s Competition Bureau regarding their access to films in Canada. Across the country, independent cinemas are coming together to decry prohibitive practices, which the association sees as unfairly blocking audiences from the choice of where to see a movie. TheaterEars and the Walt Disney Studios have announced that Disney and Pixar’s Onward is the first movie ever to have Audio Description available on the TheaterEars app, enabling moviegoers with visual impairments the ability to enjoy the film. “We are proud to work with Disney to break new ground with this [new] offering in our app,” said TheaterEars CEO Dam Mangru. “Onward is a fantastic film for moviegoers of all ages, and everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy it.”
