Sony Completes Sound Facilities Upgrade

Sony Pictures Post Production Services is celebrating the completion of the final phase of a multi-year effort to expand and modernize its motion picture and television sound facilities. Aiming to establish an inviting, state-of-the-art space for filmmakers and creative sound artists, the studio has integrated the latest immersive sound technology across 14 mix stages on its lot in Culver City. It has also made extensive aesthetic improvements. Its historic Cary Grant, William Holden, Kim Novak, Burt Lancaster, and Anthony Quinn mix stages have been restored to sparkling condition, with new acoustics, cinema screens, creature comforts and creative support.

Select Films at Cannes Screening in HDR by Barco Format

Barco today announced a special Cannes screening program showcasing critically acclaimed titles, prepared for and screened in the groundbreaking HDR by Barco format. The carefully curated slate highlights festival winners from Belgium, Italy, Germany, and the United States, making their global debut in breathtaking Barco HDR Lightsteering. Barco’s HDR film series will be held May 16-22 in Theatre 8 at the Cinéum Cannes Theatre.

Nicolas Seydoux Named 2024 CineEurope Icon Award Winner

Nicolas Seydoux, chairman of the French anti-piracy audiovisual association (ALPA) and chairman of the Supervisory Board of Gaumont, France, has been named as the 2024 recipient of the CineEurope Icon Award, given in recognition of his career and accomplishments. The Award will be presented as part of the CineEurope Opening Ceremony on June 17 at the Centre Convencions Internacional Barcelona in Barcelona, Spain.

Tickets Now on Sale for Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle

Crunchyroll has announced that tickets for its sports volleyball anime, Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle, are now on sale for North American audiences. The film, distributed by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment, will come to theatres across the United States and Canada starting on May 31 and will be available in both Japanese with English subtitles and dubbed in English.
