Studio Enterprise has announced a partnership with Lightcraft Technology to provide students access to industry leading virtual production equipment. As a vertically integrated content company using education and training as a platform to impact the media and entertainment industry, Studio Enterprise’s partnership with Lightcraft Technology will entail equipment provision, collaborative training programs and master classes on how to shoot TV and movie productions using their real-time VFX platform Halide FX.

Finding the Magic in Film

The new feature film Mid90s, which marks the directorial debut of Jonah Hill, tells the coming-of-age story of Stevie, a 13-year-old Los Angeles boy who seeks escape from troubles at home in the company of the friends he meets in a local skate shop. Post-production finishing for the film was completed at Technicolor PostWorks New York where colorist Alex Bickel worked directly with Hill and cinematographer Christopher Blauvelt to recreate the sun-washed look of 1990s Southern California and the taut emotional landscape of Stevie’s world

Where the Wild Things Aren’t

Director of photography Joe Callahan recently completed principal photography on a feature-length documentary about wildlife rescue and rehabilitation in India. The documentary, aiming for premium festival berths, profiles the pioneering work of Wildlife SOS, a worldwide organization dedicated to protecting and conserving India’s natural heritage, forest and wildlife wealth. The majority of location work on the documentary (working title, Where the Wild Things Aren’t) took place last June all across India—jungles, deserts and the teeming cities of Jodhpur, Delhi and Agra.

Vettri Installs India’s First Christie RGB Laser Projector

Vettri Theatres has become the first cinema in India to be equipped with a Christie CP4325-RGB RealLaser cinema projector. Located in Chennai, Vettri Theatres is one of the most prominent cinemas in the city’s Chrompet district with a single-screen auditorium featuring ergonomic cushion seats, three-way stage speakers and eye-catching interiors. The massive auditorium has a capacity of 776 seats and is highly popular among students, working professionals and residents in and around Chrompet district.

Volfoni's 3D Elliptical Polarization Gets US Patent

Volfoni has been granted patent number 10,151,932 in the U.S. territory for its three dimensional elliptical polarization. Previous third-party cinema systems for 3D have required the use of passive 3D glasses based on either circular or linear polarization. Volfoni’s innovation instead uses passive 3D glasses based on elliptical polarization. According to the company, this not only improves the overall light efficiency and performance, but also avoids a host of other third-party choices, which specifically mandate the use of circular polarization.
