Kicking off what could be a record-breaking summer at the box office, Fandango today launched its new Fandango VIP+ rewards program to incentivize advance ticketing and more movie-going this summer. For the first time, ticket buyers on Fandango can earn VIP+ Points redeemable for discounts and free stuff across Fandango’s family of businesses -- from ticketing to streaming digital movies and TV shows to fan merchandise.

Guangzhou Jinyi Media Corporation, owner of Jinyi Cinemas, one of the largest cinema circuits in China, and Dolby Laboratories today announced a partnership to open 20 Dolby Cinema locations in China in the following four years. Jinyi is also committed to deploy 630 Dolby digital cinema systems in China, including Dolby Integrated Media Servers, Dolby cinema audio processors, Dolby Multichannel Amplifiers, and SLS Cinema Series Speaker Systems.
Kinoplex, Brazil’s largest locally-owned theater chain, has completed its digital cinema deployment in its 220 screens with Christie Solaria Series DCI-compliant, DLP cinema projectors. Kinoplex deployed a wide variety of Christie cinema projectors, due to the huge range of screen sizes and projection distances at its film theatres, including CP2215, CP2220, and CP2230 units that deliver value with reliability and low total cost of ownership.
After months of speculation, there is now an official name for Barco’s joint venture with Appotronix and China Film Company announced late last year: Cinionic. This data science study is being conducted to support the launch of myCinema, a new broadband-based in-theatre platform system, which offers a large catalog of alternative content titles to theatre circuits of all sizes and locations. myCinema is being launched for the first time at Cinemacon 2018.

Dolby today announced an upgraded line of multichannel amplifiers that allows users to replace up to 16 stereo amplifiers, while saving space, reducing heat and lowering overall costs. Available in either 16, 24 or 32 channel configurations, with the 16 channel configuration now available with enhanced power handling for lower impedance loudspeakers, the changes allow the amplifier to work in traditional 5.1/7.1 multichannel audio rooms as well as continuing to provide amplification for Dolby Atmos surround channels and screen channels.

CinemaNext today announced the signing of two separate global agreements with Malaysian and Chinese seating manufacturers, Ferco Seating Systems and Guangzhou Leadcom Seating, respectively. These new agreements recognize CinemaNext as an official international distributor of their cinema seating products in select markets, including Europe, Middle East and Africa. It follows the agreement with European seating manufacturer Ezcaray announced in February.
