Ymagis Group and Figueras International Seating have reached a non-exclusive distribution agreement for Figueras’ seating for cinema exhibitors. The deal recognizes Ymagis Group/dcinex as a non-exclusive distributor in countries in which the former operates – Europe, the Middle East & Africa.
WCP Media Services has engaged Cameron Thomson Group as its global commercial development partner. Independent cinema operator Broadway Kino has signed Germany’s first Managed Services customer agreement with Sony Digital Cinema 4K. Under the terms of the deal, Broadway Kino replaced older DLP Series 1 projectors at two of its six screens with new Sony SRX-R515DS 4K dual projection systems.

Christie has announced that the Christie CP2208 digital cinema projector has generated record-breaking sales in China since it started shipping in October. To date, Christie’s partner Beijing Donview Technology Development Co., Ltd (Donview) has purchased more than 500 units of this affordable and DCI-compliant projector, making it the bestselling cinema projector of its class in China to date.
Vista Group International has announced the signing of a strategic partnership with Share Dimension, a Dutch software development company specializing in predictive analytics business intelligence solutions for cinema exhibitors. The transaction, which will complete on January 4, 2016, will see Vista owning 50 percent equity and will further fuel Share Dimension’s strong ambitions for the coming years.
Screenvision has formed a strategic alliance with with Kaos Connect, a newly formed event cinema company. Kaos Connect was founded by former NCM/Fathom executives, Shelly Maxwell and Dan Diamond, who are recognized experts and leaders in alternative content for movie theatres. Kaos will be Screenvision’s exclusive source of event cinema programming beginning in early 2016.
Movio has released insights on the audience buying tickets for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The opening night audience of Star Wars: The Force Awakens is 70.4 percent male which is 6.5 percentage points greater than opening night audience of Jurassic World (63.9 percent, on par with a typical blockbuster), Movio found.
The Department of Justice has approved the sale of Starplex Cinemas, which operates 33 movie theatres with 346 screens in 12 states, to AMC Entertainment Holdings, Inc. for approximately $175 million, subject to final working capital and other adjustments. The sale and purchase agreement was originally announced in July.
