Deluxe Launches LIBRAS Service for Brazilian Film Releases

Deluxe Entertainment Services Group has launched a Brazilian sign language (LIBRAS) localization service. The service – the first of its kind outside of Brazil – is designed to help studios meet Brazil’s new LIBRAS accessibility requirements, which began to be enforced as of September 17 and necessitate that studios produce and deliver LIBRAS video recordings for any feature released in Brazilian theaters.

Volfoni Launches Landmark Upgrade Program

Volfoni Limited launched an upgrade program designed to provide a path from legacy 3D cinema hardware systems from other manufacturers to the latest-generation 3D cinema hardware systems from Volfoni. The manufacturers included in the program are MasterImage, Dolby and XpanD. The program recognizes the past investments that customers have made, and provides incentives to let them easily and affordably replace outdated 3D systems.

CinemaNext Opens North American Office in Irving, Texas

Vista Group Acquires Senda Dirección Tecnológica

Vista Group International has reached an agreement with its long-term Latin American business partner Senda Dirección Tecnológica to take a controlling 60 percent share in the company, which will be renamed Vista Latin America, become of full member of the Vista Group and continue to be run by its founders and managers, Armando Mejias and Gustavo Ortega.

Grand Cinemas Installing Volfoni 3D

Grand Cinemas, the leading cinema chain in Lebanon, Jordan and Kuwait, is installing Volfoni 3D systems for its roll out of more than 40 screens. Volfoni’s 3D cinema technology will be deployed in a new multiplex to be opened this month in ABC Mall in Verdun, Lebanon. In line with its strategy of expanding vertically and horizontally in the region, Grand Cinemas counts today over 81 screens, with additional new screens currently under development.

Cinépolis Opens Maryland Theatre

Cinépolis USA is opening a premium large format theatre in Kimco Realty’s Kentlands Market Square in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas-Gaithersburg, anticipated to open in 2019, marks Cinépolis USA’s debut into Maryland and adds to the brand’s existing list of 16 movie houses in the U.S., six of which are Luxury Cinemas. The approximately 34,000-square-foot movie theater will hold 540 seats.

Who Made Wonder Woman a Hit?

Wonder Woman's audience evolved in a similar manner as most blockbusters but with some trends notably magnified, according to an audience evolution report released by Movio. While the female and fifty and older segments of the audience generally grow over the course of a blockbuster’s run, Wonder Woman’s female audience nearly reached parity with the male audience by the third week.
