Samsung unveiled the world’s first 3D Cinema LED screen this week at the Integrated Systems Europe trade show in Amsterdam.
Wanda Cinemas’s Wujiaochang theatre in Shanghai’s Yangpu District is installing Samsung’s Cinema LED Screen technology, becoming the first implementation of Samsung’s Cinema LED Screen in China. This follows implementations in Asia last year in Seoul and Busan, Korea, and Bangkok, Thailand, and in Europe, at the Arena Cinemas Sihlcity in Zurich, Switzerland.

Harkness Screens is opening a new manufacturing facility in the USA. Evans & Sutherland has introduced AEOS Theaters, an alliance between E&S, Spitz, and Sonics2. The companies have joined forces to create a new generation of giant screen cinema experiences for immersive domes and giant flat screen theaters. Using a blended array of laser or lamp-based projectors, the companies say that AEOS allows domes or flat screen theaters to achieve resolutions of 8K or even higher while maintaining their fulldome, partial dome, or 4:3 aspect ratio flat screens. An AEOS theater can also function as a multipurpose venue with available turnkey presentation and digital marketing packages.
ScreenX, the world’s first multi-projection system that provides a 270-degree panoramic film viewing experience within a theatre setting, has announced that Twentieth Century Fox’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle will be available in the immersive format. In addition to opening in ScreenX, the film will be made available for bookings on nearly 400 4DX screens in 49 countries around the world.
Samsung Electronics today announced that it has installed its first commercial Cinema LED Screen at Lotte Cinema World Tower in Korea. The high dynamic range display is the result of collaboration between Harman Professional Solutions and Samsung Audio Lab.
