Boston-area theatre Showcase SuperLux has launched a new program that elevates the cinematic experience through specially curated artwork installations and live performances by noted local musicians. In addition to the superior comfort, dining and entertainment offerings available at Showcase SuperLux, guests will now enjoy ongoing arts programs inspired by classic and current films.
Christie was the projection partner at Conque 2019, Mexico’s biggest comics and entertainment event, for the second year running. Held recently at the Congress Centre in the city of Querétaro, the event’s main auditorium featured a Christie CP4325-RBG pure laser projector.

Sony has announced that, following the Version 4.0 firmware release this June for its Venice digital cinema camera, which includes a high frame rate license to support 120fps at 4K 2.39:1, 110fps at 4K 17:9, 75fps at 4K 4:3 and 60fps at 6K 3:2, Venice’s Version 5.0 update will further enable cinematographers to shoot at speeds of up to 90fps at 6K 2.39:1 and 72fps at 6K 17:9/1.85:1. This addition enables Venice to capture three times slow motion at 24p, even in 6K. Cinematographers can utilize the same camera across multiple speeds, maintaining the full-frame shallow depth of field, as well as the high picture quality of oversampling in 6K.
Atomos Limited has introduced Neon, an all-new line-up of precision 4K HDR field monitor-recorders for on-set or in-studio production where reliable and trustworthy monitoring is essential. Neon comes in four screen sizes, 17-inch, 24-inch, 31-inch and 55-inch, ensuring that no matter the critical production usage, every crew member sees an accurate image representation so directors know with confidence that they have got the shot, that cinematographers ensure consistent exposure, focus pullers maintain the sharpness of an actor's eyes, and so editors and color graders can lock down the creative intent from shot to shot.
Sony Pictures has announced that Spider-Man: Far From Home will be released in the 270-degree panoramic ScreenX format on July 2nd. It marks the first Sony Pictures film to be converted into ScreenX. Previously Sony Pictures released Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in 4DX, another immersive cinema technology from CJ 4DPlex. The new Spider-Man will also be available in 4DX.

On display for European cinema business owners will be the Atom Seating Helium and Neon VIP recliners and the Tungsten and Titanium gliders.
Award winning VFX and animation studio Jellyfish Pictures has opened a new virtual animation facility in Sheffield. The move continues Jellyfish Pictures’ pioneering efforts, after creating Europe’s first virtual VFX studios in 2017. The new site is the company’s fifth studio in the UK and is in addition to Jellyfish Pictures’ established studios in Fitzrovia, Central London, Brixton, South London and Oval, South London.
QSC has opened new SAARC headquarters in Bengaluru, India. The new office serves as a business development, management and support hub for QSC Systems, live sound and cinema businesses in the region. It also serves as a dedicated training and demonstration area.
B&B Theatres, the sixth largest theatre chain in North America has added four ScreenX theatres and 10 Grand Screen premium large format rooms, bringing to 29 the total number of auditoriums with DTS:X sound. The installations were part of DTS’s partnership with GDC Technology.
