CGR Cinemas Chooses Christie to Convert All its Screens to RGB Pure Laser

CGR Cinemas has chosen Christie as its exclusive laser projection partner, as it moves to convert all 700 of its theatres to RGB pure laser technology. In a landmark agreement that sees CGR becoming the largest investor in Christie RealLaser systems in the world today, 200 CGR Classic auditoriums will be redeveloped for Christie RealLaser over the next two years.

The CNC’s brand-new site has been equipped with the latest in image technology including EclairColor high dynamic range, 3D-capable Sony Digital Cinema 4K projectors, and Twavox for audio description and hearing support.

Wanying Cinema to Open Fourteen New IMAX Theatres in Coming Years

IMAX Corporation and Wanying Cinema Line, a subsidiary of China Resources Land, one of China's largest state-owned commercial developers, today announced an agreement for 14 new IMAX theatres. The theatres will feature IMAX with Laser and are expected to open between 2018 and 2021. This agreement brings the total number of contracted IMAX theatres in Greater China to more than 900.

Crowne Pointe to Feature Christie Projection

When the innovative Crowne Pointe Theatre complex in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, has its grand opening in October, all nine auditoriums will feature Christie projectors. Integrity Entertainment Systems supervised the installation and project management. Highlighting the installation is the Christie CP4325-RGB pure laser projector in the giant, 60-foot screen in the 226-seat auditorium, the largest of the nine auditoriums.

Christie Sponsors TIFF Again

Christie announced that is the official digital projection partner of the 43rd Toronto International Film Festival, the world’s largest public film festival. This marks the eighteenth year in a row that the company has provided technology for the festival. Taking place from September 6-16, the Toronto International Film Festival garners global attention annually, screening almost 350 feature films and shorts, hosting 20 galas and attracting a veritable Who’s Who of international movie luminaries.

Schindler's List Releasing in Dolby Cinema

To commemorate the 25th anniversary release of Steven Spielberg's masterpiece Schindler's List, one of the most significant endeavors in the history of cinema, Universal Pictures will re-release the film with picture and sound digitally remastered—including in 4K, Dolby Cinema and Dolby Atmos—for a limited theatrical engagement on December 7, 2018, in theaters across the United States and Canada.
