Red Helium Sensor Earns Unprecedented DXOMark Rating

DxO Labs has announced that Red's new Helium sensor has earned an unprecedented 108-point DXOMark sensor score, setting a new benchmark in image quality. DxOMark sensor scores are determined by a panel of imaging experts who use a systematic testing process to measure the ISO sensitivity, noise and color sensitivity of each camera's Raw sensor performance.

Chronicling an Australian Legend

Red Dog: True Blue is the iconic Australian story of friendship and adventure between a young boy and a scrappy one-of-a-kind dog that would grow up to become an Australian legend. The film is the prequel to 2011's Red Dog. Both films were directed by Kriv Stenders, written by Daniel Taplitz, and photographed by Geoffrey Hall. The film features wide desert vistas of Western Australia. It was shot full 2.40 anamorphic using an Alexa XT with a Cooke Anamorphic/i lens package from boutique rental house HyperFocal of Sydney.

Colorist Dan Hermelin Joins Roundabout Entertainment

Versatile colorist Dan Hermelin has joined Roundabout Entertainment as the facility continues to build its talent pool and broaden its services for picture finishing and restoration. Hermelin arrives with more than 20 years of post-production experience and a resume spanning features, television and restoration project, the latter including re-masters of Jerry Maguire, Men in Black and The Deep. At Roundabout, he will continue to service a diverse clientele, including his current project, the animated series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for Nickelodeon.

Four New Titles Coming in Dolby Cinema

Four new titles are being added to the growing slate of movies to be shown at Dolby Cinema locations around the globe. They include Sony Pictures’ Passengers, due out December 21; Warner Bros. Pictures’ Live by Night, due out January 13; Paramount Pictures’ xXx: Return of Xander Cage, due out January 20; and Focus Features’ The Coldest City, due out July 28.
