HPA Announces Details for 2021 Tech Retreat Supersession

The Hollywood Professional Association has announced details for its Tech Retreat Supersession, a two-day interactive exploration of the workflows and technology of multiple productions taking place around the globe. The Supersession is set for March 23-24 and follows on the success of last year’s Supersession which focused on the live production and post-production of the short film, The Lost Lederhosen.

Sofia Coppola to Receive ASC Board of Governors Award

The American Society of Cinematographers will present writer-producer-director Sofia Coppola with the organization’s Board of Governors Award during the 35th Annual ASC Awards on April 18, which will be live streamed from the ASC Clubhouse in Hollywood. The Society bestows the ASC Board of Governors Award to filmmakers for their significant and indelible contributions to cinema through their body of work.

SMPTE Hollywood to Host Panel Discussion about New ATSC Standard

SMPTE, MESA Collaborate on Language Metadata Table

In collaboration with the Manufacturing Enterprise Solutions Association, the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers is bringing the media industry's first human- and machine-readable Language Metadata Table into its public review process, an early step toward SMPTE standardization. Published as a SMPTE Public Committee Draft, the vetted and approved list of language codes will be readily available for public comment, implementation, and validation.

Lynette Duensing Named CSI Fellow

Duensing is being recognized for her outstanding achievements and contributions to the craft of color across a highly productive career spanning more than 30 years.
