Shooting Underway on Screen Gems’ Cadaver

Principal photography has started on Screen Gems' horror thriller, Cadaver, starring Shay Mitchell along with Stana Katic, Grey Damon, Nick Thune, Jacob Ming-Trent, Max McNamara, Louis Herthum and Kirby Johnson.  Diederik Van Rooijen directs from a script by Brian Sieve. The producers are Todd Garner and Sean Robins of Broken Road Productions, Glenn Gainor is executive producer and Andrea Ajemian is co-producer.

Van Rooijen previously directed the acclaimed Dutch series Penoza and the features Daylight and Taped. Writer Brian Sieve's credits include Scream: The TV Series and Boogeyman 2. Rounding out the production team are Van Rooijen's Dutch compatriots Lennert Hillege, director of photography (Prey) and Paula Loos, production designer (Suburban Cowboy); Deborah Newhall (Brotherhood) is costume designer.  

Disgraced ex-cop and recovering addict Megan Reed (Shay Mitchell) must take a graveyard shift at the morgue in the hospital where she got sober, but things get out of control when a suspicious cadaver is delivered.

Mitchell, who stars as Megan, is best known for her leading role as Emily Fields on ABC Family's hit show Pretty Little Liars.  She also starred in Garry Marshall's Mother's Day.  

Stana Katic (Castle) plays Megan's AA sponsor, Lisa, a nurse who secures her friend the job at the morgue; Grey Damon (Aquarius) is Megan's estranged police officer boyfriend, Andrew; Nick Thune (Nick Thune: Good Guy) plays the ambulance driver who delivers the deadly body; Jacob Ming-Trent (Feed The Beast) and newcomer Max McNamara are Megan's jovial hospital colleagues; and Louis Herthum (Westworld) plays a killer who is convinced that his victim is not dead.

Cadaver films in Boston and New England Studios, Devens, Massachusetts through mid-December.

Screen Gems is the specialty production division at Sony Pictures Entertainment, which was created to finance and produce moderately budgeted films that are marketed to targeted audiences.
