Applications for The Made in NY Women’s Film, TV and Theatre Fund went live today. The fund provides finishing grants for film, television, digital projects and theatre productions. To be eligible, projects must be made by, for, or about women or female-identifying individuals.
The Women’s Film, TV and Theatre Fund is a centerpiece of a groundbreaking series of initiatives by the City of New York Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment to address the underrepresentation of women and female-identifying individuals in film, television, and theatre. It will be administered by the New York Foundation for the Arts. The program will provide finishing grants for film, television, and digital projects and theatre productions. All projects must be completed by March 31, 2020.
Recipients will be selected from the following categories; amounts listed are the maximum potential grant:
Fiction Feature (running time of 60 minutes or more) – $50,000
Fiction Short (running time of 59 minutes or less) – $25,000
Fiction Webisode/Webseries (all forms) – $20,000
Documentary Feature (running time of 60 minutes or more) – $50,000
Documentary Short (running time of 59 minutes or less) – $25,000
Documentary Webisodes/Webseries (all lengths and forms) – $20,000
Theatre Production – $50,000
In addition to being made by, for, or about women and female-identified individuals, projects are eligible if they feature a strong female or female-identified perspective; and/or include a female or female-identified director; and/or include a meaningful female or female-identified producer credit; and/or include a meaningful female or female-identified writing credit; and/or include a female or female-identified protagonist.
The application and eligibility guidelines are available starting today. Applications will be accepted through October 16 at 11:59 PM EST. Recipients will be notified in February 2019.
