The film By Water, directed by Iyabo Kwayana, is an official selection of the Animation Short Film Program at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. By Water, will also be the first animated experimental film to appear on America ReFramed. The short film follows an unlikely hero's journey into his own memories and becomes a vehicle for reconciliation and healing for himself and his sibling.

Society of Camera Operators Names Awards Nominees

The Society of Camera Operators has announced the nominees for the Camera Operator of the Year awards for the Film and Television categories. Nominees will be awarded live and in-person at the Loews Hollywood Hotel on February 25 during the annual Society of Camera Operators Lifetime Achievement Awards. In a first for the awards, the SOC has announced six nominees for Camera Operator of the Year in both the Film and Television categories.

Sundance Filmmakers Overwhelmingly Choose Adobe Technology

For the fifth year in a row, more Sundance Film Festival filmmakers selected Adobe video editing and collaboration tools than any other. This year’s annual Sundance Institute survey found that more than two-thirds (67 percent) of Sundance films used Adobe Premiere Pro or Frame.io to bring their stories to life: Premiere Pro is the festival’s most popular video editing software, used by more than half of Sundance films, including Plan C, Going Varsity in Mariachi, Sometimes I This about Dying, Fremont and many others.

ArsenalFX Color Hires Tahirah Foy

Arsenal FX Color, with studios in Santa Monica, Albuquerque and Atlanta, has added colorist Tahirah Foy to its growing staff. Formerly with HBO, Foy brings diverse experience in color grading for television, film, and broadcast media, and in film restoration. In her first project for Arsenal FX Color, she will be performing final color grading for the feature documentary Big Boss, directed by Keke Palmer.
