Cooke Optics has appointed Hon Ming Lai to the role of director of sales Asia, Australasia, Africa, Middle East, effective immediately. Reporting to Thomas Greiser, director of global sales, Hon Ming will be based in Hong Kong.
Showbiz Cinemas is pleased to announce that the Ballarat Showgrounds in Wendouree, Australia will soon be home to the first local drive-in cinema operation since the closure of the Southern Drive-In Theatre in 1991. Conducted in April and May, more than 20,000 Australians provided opinions and captured sentiment on returning to cinemas once they reopen. Overwhelmingly, Australians say they are comfortable returning to cinemas with social distancing measures in place with 94 percent confirming that they intend to return at the same frequency or more as before the pandemic.

Hoyts Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park, Sydney, has installed the first Samsung Onyz Cinema LED Screen in Australia. The new installment features a 14-meter screen. Another 10-meter Onyx screen will also be installed at Hoyts Highpoint in Melbourne, Australia next month.
