SMPTE today announced that it will elevate 12 industry leaders to the status of SMPTE Fellow. This honor is conferred on individuals who have, through their proficiency and contributions to the industry, attained an outstanding rank among members of the Society. Atlanta post house Nine Mile Circle has hired Julia Merrill as executive producer. Merrill, whose background includes nine years as a writer/producer for Cartoon Network, will lead client relations, business development and project management. She will also work with Nine Mile Circle editor and owner Kyle Kramb in implementing the company’s further expansion plans, including a move to a larger facility this fall.
Award-winning production studio Jellyfish Pictures has appointed Dave Wells pipeline technical director and compositor. Bringing a level of technical experience that will enhance Jellyfish Pictures’ expansion into developing standalone solutions, Wells’ role also sees him provide support and technical know-how to Jellyfish’s CTO Jeremy Smith.
Fathom Events, and its owners, AMC Entertainment, Cinemark and Regal Entertainment Group have named Ray Nutt as chief executive officer for Fathom Events. Nutt will be transitioning from Regal Entertainment Group to the role, where he will also serve as a board director.
