Christie Toronto International Film Festival Projection Partner for Fourteenth Year

Christie is once again the official projection partner to the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival in September. A Festival sponsor for 14 consecutive years, Christie has played an integral role in ushering in the digital age at this renowned showcase for local and international talents. Today, with the help of this partnership, more than 99 percent of all Festival entries are screened digitally, with an increasing number in 4K, sharpening the shared experience between filmmaker and audience.

Douglas Trumbull’s UFOTOG Premieres May 11

Filmmaker and visual effects legend Douglas Trumbull is partnering with Christie on May 11 to premiere UFOTOG, a dramatic 10-minute experimental sci-fi story about a lone man attempting to photograph UFOs. Directed by Trumbull and created in 4K 3D at 120 frames per second, the short film will be screened on a Christie Mirage 4K35, the 4K DLP resolution projector running at 120Hz, at the Seattle Cinerama Theater’s 2nd Annual Sci-Fi Film Festival.

Academy Supports Big Sky Documentary Film Festival

The Big Sky Documentary Film Festival has received a $10,000 grant from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in support of the festival’s retrospective artist. In alignment with the 2014 festival’s theme of humor, this year’s retrospective filmmaker is Robert B. Weide, widely known for his work as principal director and executive producer of HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Technicolor-PostWorks New York provided post-production services to five films that screened at this month’s Toronto International Film Festival. They included three narrative films, John Turturro’s Fading Gigolo, David Frankel’s One Chance, and Ned Benson’s The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Him and Her, as well as Alex Gibney’s documentary The Armstrong Lie, and The Weinstein Company’s concert film 12.12.12: The Concert for Sandy Relief.
