The International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood, announced on Tuesday the nominations for its 43rd Annual Annie Awards, which recognize the best in the field of animation. The list included a Best Animated Feature-Independent nomination for Mamoru Hosoda's The Boy and The Beast – the critically acclaimed anime film from Studio Chizu, which is being distributed in the U.S. by Funimation Entertainment.

Parallax’s Musical Ready for Production

Parallax Media Ventures has announced that it is near completion of pre-production on Musical, the definitive version of the classic Grimm’s fairy tale, The Bremen Town Musicians. The team’s first act animatic, featuring 3,200 storyboard images and paintings, will be available for private viewing three weeks following the American Film Market. The feature, with a proposed budget of $60 million, is a four-quadrant title slated for release in 2017.

Tickets Now On Sale For Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F

FUNimation Entertainment announced that tickets for Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F are now available for purchase via www.dragonballz.com. The new feature film will screen in more than 1,000 theaters across the United States and Canada from August 4-12. The theatrical event, with an approximate 105-minute run time, will feature a special 15-minute pre-show featuring Dragon Ball Z trivia and cast interviews.

Animation 15 Percent of European 2014 Box Office, New Study Says

Animation films achieved an average of 179.8 million admissions in Europe over the period 2010-2014, representing 14.7 percent of the market in 2014. Russia, UK & Ireland and France were the largest market for animation in Europe, the three accounting for more than half of the yearly average 179.8 million admissions to animation in Europe. However, when it comes to the share of animation in each country, smaller territories such as the three Baltic states and Slovakia and Slovenia stand out, with Latvia topping the ranking with 26 percent of local admissions going to animation films.
