Nice Shoes provided post-production finishing for the MPI Original feature film Pinball: The Man Who Saved the Game, a colorful story from New York City’s past. Senior colorist Marcy Robinson collaborated with writers/directors Austin and Meredith Bragg, producer Lana Link and cinematographer Jon Keng in finalizing the look of the film, which won the Overall Audience Choice and IFJA Directorial Debut awards at the Heartland International Film Festival and Best Narrative Feature at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival.

Barbarian: Tethered to Reality

When cinematographer Zach Kuperstein got the job to shoot writer-director Zach Cregger’s horror feature Barbarian, one of the first things he did was reach out to Light Iron senior colorist Sam Daley. The two had previously worked together on a short and three independent features — The Eyes of My Mother, The Vigil, and Paper Spiders — but their collaborations began during post, not during pre-production.

Changing the Look of The Chi

After a grim and gritty fourth season, the Showtime series The Chi returned to its more optimistic roots for Season 5, changing not only the tone of its stories but also the palette of its visuals. To finalize this look, Season 5 cinematographer Nathan Ray Salter collaborated with Light Iron colorist Katie Jordan, who had also graded Season 4.

Nice Shoes helped bring the landscapes of Florida’s Gulf Coast vividly to life by providing post services for the Amazon Prime dramedy Life’s Rewards. Colorist Lenny Mastrandrea collaborated with writer and director Damian Fitzsimmons, executive producer Jordan Wollman, and cinematographer Erik Van Lenten at honing the final look of the show’s eight-episode second season.

Nice Shoes provided color grading and editorial finishing services for Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey, Netflix’s four-part documentary series about the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and its self-proclaimed prophet, Warren Jeffs. Directed by Rachel Dretzin and produced and co-directed by Grace McNally, the series explores, in shocking detail, the FLDS’s decades of practicing polygamy, forced underage marriage and pregnancy, and the events that led to Jeffs’ 2011 life sentence.

Color Grading The Old Man

The FX original series The Old Man stars Jeff Bridges as the eponymous lead, former CIA operative Dan Chase, whose off-the-grid existence is rudely interrupted when an intruder breaks into his home. The confrontation sets off an epic game of cat and mouse, forcing Chase to go on the run as multiple parties seek to either bring him in or take him down. Sean Porter served as lead cinematographer for the series’ first season and shot four of the seven episodes, with Jules O’Loughlin, ACS, ASC and Armando Salas, ASC handling the remainder.
