While trying to keep her boyfriend’s surprise birthday party on track, Katie’s day takes a drastic detour after picking her brother, Seth, and his daughter up. Realizing Seth has relapsed in his heroin addiction, Katie drives him around town trying to find a detox center that will admit him. 6 Balloons was written and directed by Marja-Lewis Ryan and shot by cinematographer Polly Morgan, BSC (Spinning Man, The Intervention) with VariCam 35 cameras. The Netflix feature film, which stars Abbi Jacobsen and Dave Franco, had its premiere at this year’s South by Southwest film festival in March and began streaming on Netflix in April.

Kinopolis Adding D-Box Seats to Eighteen Screens

Kinopolis, Germany’s largest independent cinema operator, is adding D-Box motion seats to 18 new screens throughout the Germany. Currently, Kinopolis offers D-Box motion technology on nine screens in Main-Taunus, Darmstadt and Rhein-Neckar. The motion seats will be added to screens in Hanau, Gießen, Rosenheim, Aschaffenburg, Bonn - Bad Godesberg and Koblenz. This brings the total number of D-Box screens with Kinopolis to 27.

IBC, TM Forum Announce Open Innovation Collaboration

Influential European trade organization IBC and TM Forum, the digital business trade association today jointly announced a new collaboration to drive open innovation between the telecoms and media industries. The collaboration will include a focus on developing multi-company, rapid proof-of-concept projects to be showcased at each other’s flagship events and a range of joint marketing and content sharing activities.

Cinema Anywhere on Display at Cannes Film Festival

The patented technology Cinema Anywhere, a public screening platform from Israeli start-up Muvix, is on display at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Cinema Anywhere provides public screening as a service, and enables on-demand screening of any content in any public place, indoors and outdoors. During the festival, Muvix will operate a smart cinema in the Israeli pavilion, where films of Israeli filmmakers will be screened to festival visitors.

Gofilex, Motion Picture Solutions Sign Strategic Financial Agreements

Ymagis Group Reports First-Quarter 2018 Revenue

Ymagis Group today reported its consolidated financial results for the first quarter of 2018, ending March 31. Revenue for Ymagis Group fell by 5.4 percent to €39.3 million during the first three months of 2018 due to the anticipated acceleration in the decline of virtual print fee activities. This is partly offset by the growth in service activities (+4.1 percent at €25.6 million).

Creating Continuity in Dreams

Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams, the anthology series produced by Sony Pictures Television in a joint venture with Channel 4 in the U.K. and Amazon Studios in the U.S., draws on the late science fiction writer’s voluminous short fiction for its stories of alternate realities, future worlds and paradoxical situations. The show’s first season is a feast for the imagination, consisting of 10 stand-alone, one-hour episodes, each based on a different Philip K. Dick short story and each with a different cast, director and writer. Split between England and the United States, production of Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams was logistically and creatively challenging.
