Film is dead at least according to a survey of film festival organizers that Quvis Technologies CEO Kenbe Goertzen discussed recently at the International Film Festival Summit in Austin Texas. As a whole film festival organizers say that they do most of the judging in digital formats and believe that digital formats specifically a Digital Cinema Package offers the best viewing experience for their audience.

Can Bringing Light Make it to Sundance?

A three-minute film about a tiny molecule that lights up brain tumors so neurosurgeons can better distinguish cancer from normal tissue has a chance to get its own moment in the spotlight as a semifinalist in the Sundance Film Festival in January. Technicolor has announced a strategic alliance with Village Roadshow a long-standing customer and a leading entertainment company operating in film and DVD distribution cinema film production theme parks and music. The agreement is designed to strengthen Technicolor's worldwide footprint by expanding its presence in Australia where the Group is already well established as the country's largest DVD/Blu-ray disc replicator. Principal Photography Underway on Broken Horses

Principal photography has begun on Broken Horses written and directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Acclaimed Indian filmmaker Chopra’s first English language film stars Vincent D’Onofrio (Full Metal Jacket Men in Black) Anton Yelchin (Like Crazy Star Trek) and Chris Marquette (Alpha Dog The Girl Next Door). The supporting cast includes Spanish star Maria Valverde Thomas Jane and Sean Patrick Flanery. Reliance Entertainment is financing the independent film which is shooting on locations in the greater Los Angeles area.

A lack of high quality facilities restrictive legislation not to mention three decades of civil war have all been detrimental to its success. Today the industry remains closely regulated. Yet to its credit the country has some strong talent in the form of a handful of pre-war filmmakers as well as a sprinkling of talented new blood.
