Women Directors Featured at 2016 DTLA Film Festival

The 8th annual DTLA Film Festival, presented by Toyota Mirai, will once again showcase some of the best in indie filmmaking by women. From narrative features to documentaries and shorts, from L.A. to Berlin to Cuba, the 14 women-directed films in the 2016 line-up tell original, compelling stories and highlight the complex realities of the modern female experience.

ASC Sets 2017 Awards Date

The American Society of Cinematographers has set February 4, 2017, as the date for their 31st Annual Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography. Daryn Okada, ASC will serve as awards chair, with Lowell Peterson, ASC, as co-chairman. The ceremony will take place at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland. The ASC will honor excellence in feature film and television cinematography, along with recognizing several cinematographers and filmmakers for their contributions to the art and craft of filmmaking throughout their career.

Aynabaji Opening Film at SSAFF 2016

The Bangladeshi drama Aynabaji will open the 11th annual Seattle South Asian Film Festival, which runs October 14-23. The festival will include 23 feature films and 22 shorts from nine countries, plus a landmark community symposium about film censorship in South Asia and topical film programs centered on youth, sexual minorities, and mental health.

We Kill Death An Immersive First

Ginzburg and Tony Lee of Let It Play have announced a partnership with 4DX and ScreenX that will make their recently announced film We Kill Death the first feature film produced specifically for each of the two immersive cinema technology formats. We Kill Death focuses on YouTube stars Mustang Wanted, Oleg Cricket and the duo of Vitaliy Raskalov and Vadim Makhorov, who are familiar to millions of viewers around the world for their imaginative and death-defying stunts and adventures.
