Bentonville Film Festival Runs May 3-8

The Bentonville Film Festival has announced its 2016 schedule of events. Taking place on May 3-8 in Bentonville, Arkansas, the festival will feature approximately 35 films in competition, and expand its platform with the addition of a short film competition, three community events and a new Diversity and Inclusion Summit to be held for senior level decision makers from multiple industries. The Bentonville Film Festival, which was founded by Oscar-winning actress Geena Davis, remains the only festival to offer winning films guaranteed distribution. For the second year, the winning films in three categories will receive full distribution from Walmart, VUDU and AMC Theaters.

AMIA Announces Program Lineup for Digital Asset Symposium

The Digital Asset Symposium presented by the Association of Moving Image Archivists has crafted a comprehensive program that addresses the challenges of digital asset management in today’s constantly changing landscape. The event takes place May 4 at the Victor Borge Theater in New York. Six case study presentations from experts in the field will explore the many facets of the life cycle of content – from collection and maintenance strategies to delivery with the purpose of reaching new, bigger audiences.

Hula Post Supports The Jungle Book

In a project spanning nearly two years, Hula Post provided editorial systems, workflow engineering and technical support to Walt Disney Pictures for the production of The Jungle Book. Hula Post engineers set up and maintained editorial facilities at the studio’s production facility in Playa Vista; at Digital Domain, where motion capture elements were produced; and at Los Angeles Center Studios, where live action elements were captured. Additionally, it supported satellite-editing facilities at Sony Pictures Studios and Skywalker Sound, where sound work was completed.

Oscar-Winning Doc Posts at Technicolor

A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness, winner of this year’s Academy Award for Best Documentary, Short Subject, recently made its world premiere on HBO. Directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (who also won an Oscar in 2012 of Saving Face) and edited by Geof Bartz, A.C.E., the 40-minute film went through editorial conforming, final color grading and preparation for broadcast at Technicolor PostWorks New York.

Novra Technologies, IDC to Merge

Novra Technologies has announced a proposed merger with International Datacasting Corporation. Under the terms of the merger agreement, Novra will acquire 100 percent of the issued and outstanding common shares of IDC for total purchase consideration of approximately $1.9 million. This proposed transaction was done at arm's length and there was no finder's fee.
