Ymagis Group Reports Six-Month Earnings Report

Ymagis Group today reported its consolidated financial results for the first sixth months of 2018, ending June 30. Ymagis Group reported €79.3 million in revenue during the first half of 2018, a 3.6 percent decrease compared to the prior year period. The Group's non-virtual print fee activities are especially seasonal with strong sales traditionally in the second half of 2018, peaking in Q4.

Adefarasin Shoots Full Frame on Lyrebird

Good things come to those who wait, as cinematographer Remi Adefarasin, OBE BSC will testify, following his recent large format shoot with Cooke Optics S7/I full frame plus prime lens range on the period feature film Lyrebird. Imperative Entertainment’s Dan Friedkin is directing the film. Imperative is also producing alongside Ridley Scott.

Arri Group Executive Board Adds Member

The supervisory board of the Arri Group with headquarters in Munich, Germany, has appointed Dr. Michael Neuhaeuser, effective September 1, as its new executive board member responsible for technology. He succeeds professor Franz Kraus who, after more than 30 years work for the Arri Group, joins the supervisory board and will continue to be closely associated with the company.

Rising Sun Pictures in Adelaide Expands

Spurred by growth in international film production, improved local incentives and a strong pool of talent, Rising Sun Pictures has launched a major, new expansion effort. The visual effects studio is adding significant space and technical resources to its Adelaide production studio and expects to grow its staff by nearly one-third over the next few months.

Sounds Like Superfly

Superfly is Columbia Pictures’ reimagining of Gordon Parks Jr.’s classic 1972 crime drama that defined its genre through its characters, look, sound and feel. Helmed by Director X and written by Alex Tse, the new movie transports the story of Priest (Trevor Jackson), from Harlem to modern-day Atlanta and reenergizes its vibe for a new generation. The movie’s sound team from Sony Pictures Post Production Services, led by supervising sound editor Steven Ticknor, supervising sound editor and re-recording mixer Kevin O’Connell, re-recording mixer Greg Orloff and sound designer Tony Lamberti, was tasked with bringing the sonic elements of Priest’s world to life. That included everything from building intricate soundscapes for Atlanta’s neighborhoods and glitzy nightclubs to supplying the thunderous fireworks for gun battles and car chases.

SMPTE’s Hollywood Section Hosts Career Day

The event included speeches, roundtables, and panel discussions from industry leaders on subjects ranging from job-seeking strategies to emerging technologies employed in cinema, broadcast, and virtual reality production.

EDCF Selects New Board Members
