Plans Announced for 36th Annual Alliance Française French Film Festival

The Alliance Française French Film Festival, Australia’s largest national film festival and the biggest celebration of French cinema outside of France, is returning bigger and better in 2025, its organizers have said. Set to showcase more than 5,500 screenings of the best of contemporary French film across 18 cities, the festival returns to Australia from March 4 – April 27.

According to Mark Welton, president of Imax Theatres, the appeal of the premium large format is the impact it has on movies. "We event-asize movies," he said. "People want to shoot their movies in Imax because it means that it's a quality movie. It's a big blockbuster." But the Imax brand's jump into the mainstream film space didn’t happen overnight.
