Arri has opened a new office in Rome to further promote and support the film and audiovisual industry in Italy. To celebrate this important milestone, an opening ceremony took place on May 3. More than 100 guests from the Italian film industry, including cinematographers, producers, directors, business partners, postproduction and rental professionals gathered to toast the new premises. The event was also attended by members of Arri’s global management team.
The trade group Post New York Alliance has extended its enthusiastic support to a new agreement between New York Governor Kathy Hochul and state lawmakers to dramatically expand the state’s Film Tax Program. Overall funding for the program will rise from $420 million a year to $700 million.
The Los Angeles Greek Film Festival has announced that novelist, screenwriter, film and television producer, George Pelecanos, will receive the 2023 Honorary Orpheus Award at the Festival’s Opening Night Ceremony on June 3 in the James Bridges Theater in collaboration with The UCLA Stavros Niarchos Foundation Center for the Study of Hellenic Culture.

FutureWorks, a fast-growing end-to-end film studio with a portfolio of productions such as The Peripheral, Darlings and Westworld, is expanding its presence with the opening of a visual effects studio in Hyderabad, India. Offering complete visual effects services, the new facility will extend the capacity of the FutureWorks studio ecosystem.
Following its second successful event in 2022, FilmLight will shortly be inviting entries for the 2023 FilmLight Color Awards. The awards, which are open to colorists on any grading system, will be presented at the International Film Festival EnergaCamerImage in November.

The 2023 Lower East Side Film Festival has announced the programming for its 13th annual event, which includes exclusive feature film premieres, specialty short showcases, industry panels, and parties from May 4 - 8 at the Village East Cinema, DCTV Firehouse Cinema, plus virtually through May 14.
Visual effects studio Digital Domain has appointed industry veteran Matt McClurg as its new head of visualization. McClurg will oversee the VFX studio's full range of visualization efforts, including comprehensive previs and post viz work and a virtual production department that ranks among the top in the industry.
