Christie has announced that the Christie CP2208 digital cinema projector has generated record-breaking sales in China since it started shipping in October. To date, Christie’s partner Beijing Donview Technology Development Co., Ltd (Donview) has purchased more than 500 units of this affordable and DCI-compliant projector, making it the bestselling cinema projector of its class in China to date.
Chinese exhibitor JinYi Cinemas will establish the first all-laser multiplex in Asia. JinYi will install a Barco DP4K-30L flagship laser projector and a wide range of laser phosphor projectors throughout its brand-new Guangzhou multiplex.
Barco and China Film Group have announced the installation of Asia’s first multi-screen, panoramic Barco Escape movie theatre at the Changping AEON Cineplex in Beijing, China. A second Barco Escape theatre will open at CFG’s United square Cineplex in Shanghai this December.The format debuts to audiences in China this month with 20th Century Fox’s Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials.
Barco says it has shipped more than 100 units of its recently launched DP2K-6E projector to Chinese customers. Introduced in July, the company says the DP2K-6E is the smallest projector in the industry.
Arclight Films, and Huace Pictures, a subsidiary of Huace Media Group, one of the largest distributors of media content in China, have signed director Brian De Palma to direct the new action-thriller Lights Out. Lights Out will be the first project run through Arclight Films’ & Huace Media Group’s joint venture, Aurora Alliance Films.
Zhao Yifang, president of China’s leading entertainment conglomerate, Huace Group and Gary Hamilton, managing director of Arclight Films, in Los Angeles have signed a comprehensive strategic alliance that draws the blueprint for a, multi-faceted $300 million feature film collaboration. The partnership plans to deliver no less than three films per year through Aurora Alliance Films, a newly created joint production company by Huace Group and Arclight Films.
Wanda Cinema Line, the world’s largest cinema operator with 195 theaters and 1,732 movie screens in China as at July 2015, will install upwards of 1,500 Christie Solaria Series 2K and 4K digital cinema projectors, as well as the Christie Vive Audio solution in selected theaters, over three years.
Arclight Films says pre-sales for the theatrical release of Lost in the Pacific, the first Chinese 3D Sci-Fi action adventure film in English, are strong and is speculating that it could very well be the first Chinese independent Sci-Fi film to receive a same-day release worldwide.
Arts Alliance Media has signed a deal with China’s Jackie Chan Cinema chain to deploy AAM’s Screenwriter Theatre Management System across more than 200 screens. The deal was concluded in conjunction with Beijing CServ, a professional IT and cinema TMS provider and one of AAM’s Chinese reseller partners.
China News Film Studio has purchased a Quantel Pablo Rio HFR high quality color and finishing system to support its unique 4K S3D 48p post workflow for feature films. The facility has also chosen a Neo control panel to provide seamless interaction with the system's comprehensive grading toolset.
