EVO to Open Eight Imax with Laser Theatres

EVO Entertainment Group and Imax Corporation have announced a partnership to install eight new Imax with Laser systems. This marks the first-ever collaboration between the two companies. As part of the agreement, EVO will bring seven new Imax systems to Texas, including Houston and Austin, and one to Florida. The new systems are expected to begin opening in the third quarter of 2023.

Imax has set a new company record for first quarter box office in 2023 with $282.2 million — beating its previous best record, set in 2016, by more than $10 million. The record-breaking results were powered by a potent global mix of releases; the first quarter now stands as Imax’s highest grossing quarter ever for local language releases and also saw the stunning performance of James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water.

Roxy Cinemas Installs Two Sharp NEC Laser Projectors

Roxy Cinemas and Scrabble Entertainment have installed Sharp NEC laser projection technology in Roxy’s new Dubai Hills project. The companies say they are the largest premium large format screens in the Middle East and North Africa, measuring 28 meters by 15.1 meters. At 423 square meters, the Roxy Xtreme screen is the size of two tennis courts. With two NEC NC3541L 4K RB laser projectors, Dubai Hills is taking advantage of RB laser technology delivering compelling benefits in terms of image quality, cost, and operational efficiency.
