Megabox has installed a Barco flagship DP4K-60L laser projector in its new full premium auditorium. Megabox, one of the leading multiplexes operating 550 screens in the Republic of Korea, is opening the first premium auditorium in Starfield Hanam — the largest shopping mall complex in the country. The auditorium also includes a 22-meter wide Harkness Clarus silver screen.
The newly branded Cleveland Clinic Dome Theater at Great Lakes Science Center is about to receive a serious projection upgrade – the world’s first giant dome cinema laser system. The theater re-launch, complete with new seats and carpet, is set to open to the public in October. D3D Cinema, in partnership with Christie, is handling the installation.

Cinépolis, the largest cinema chain in Latin America and the fourth largest in the world, has now decided to extend its partnership with Barco into the next decade, with plans to install more than 1,000 projectors in Latin America and across the globe to grow its ever-expanding circuit.
Barco’s DP2K-20CLP laser phosphor cinema projector has been presented with the 2016 Beijing International Radio, TV & Film Equipment Exhibition’s special product award. The Barco DP2K-20CLP projector, which clinched the award this year, is the first laser phosphor projector based on China’s proprietary ALPD technology and the first to break 20,000 lumens.
In response to what they say has been impressive guest reaction and the overwhelming success of Dolby Cinema at AMC in its first full year, Dolby Laboratories and AMC Theatres today announced plans to accelerate Dolby Cinema at AMC installations to 100 operational sites by the end of 2017, seven years ahead of the originally announced schedule. The original agreement, reached in 2015, was for 100 auditoriums over a 10-year deployment.
Dolby and Walt Disney Studios have announced seven new titles to be shown at Dolby Cinema locations around the world. The upcoming titles include Disney’s Pete’s Dragon, due out August 12; Marvel’s Doctor Strange, due out November 4; Disney’s Moana, due out November 23; Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, due out March 17, 2017; Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, due out May 5, 2017; Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, due out May 26, 2017; and Disney•Pixar’s Cars 3, due out June 16, 2017.
Universal Parks & Resorts has named Christie the official projection system provider for all of its parks and resort theme parks and CityWalk complexes throughout the United States.
Suning Cinema, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chinese electronics retail giant Suning Commerce Group, has deployed Christie’s RGB laser projection system for its new theaters in Shanghai and Zhenjiang.
The Louvre Museum in Paris has selected Cinemeccanica France to supply and install a 6P CineCloud Lux laser projector and media server. The system, part of the Pyramid project, will be dedicated to the projection of arts, animation and various presentations related to the museum activities.
