AMC’s critically acclaimed Revolutionary War drama Turn: Washington’s Spies transports viewers back to the cities, villages, plantations and battlefields of colonial America. Ensuring that all those locations, their buildings and geographic features are historically accurate, that the ships, flags and musket shots are correctly represented, is the result of careful research and clever work on the part of the show’s production team and visual effects artists from FuseFX.

Kiwii Delivers Tini Dailies with WCPApp

Italian/UK digital media workflow specialist Kiwii Digital Solutions recently managed the production dailies of the new movie Tini: The Big Change in Violetta using the WCPApp from WCPMedia Services. The cloud-based platform made it possible to deliver dailies and other media from the film’s set in Italy to its editorial team in Spain virtually instantaneously, saving significant time and costs.

Roundabout Provided Sound Services for SXSW Short Seth

Roundabout Entertainment provided sound design, sound mixing and DCP services for Seth, director Zach Lasry’s short film screening at this month’s SXSW Film Festival. Lorenzo Gutierrez was the sound designer and re-recording mixer for the dark comedy about a man’s desperate attempt to impress his father. Seth will screen as part of SXSW’s Midnight Shorts Competition.

Meet Snake Oil Sam

Director Arlene Bogna's independent film The Ballad of Snake Oil Sam will be screened at the New Filmmakers Los Angeles Festival on Match 19. New Filmmakers Los Angeles is a non-profit organization designed to showcase innovative works by emerging global filmmakers. “Part of the Alliance of Women Directors initiative with NFMLA, The Ballad of Snake Oil Sam is an off beat ride into the creative areas we seldom explore with captivating photography and production design along with committed performances,” said NFMLA creative director/co-founder, Susie Kim. “This curious short film will engage you till the end.”

NYWITF Calls for Preservation Grant Proposals

New York Women in Film & Television’s Women's Film Preservation Fund is calling for proposals for grants to restore and preserve American films in which women have had significant creative positions. The WFPF's mission is to save films of unique importance in American history and in the history of women's cinema. Individuals and not-for-profit organizations are eligible to apply for grants of up to $10,000. The association’s next grant proposal deadline is June 1st, 2016.
