Christie Partnering with 25th Shanghai International Film Festival

Christie is partnering with the Shanghai International Film Festival for the 14th consecutive year. This year’s festival, which runs from June 9-18, is themed Embrace All, Follow the Light to rally members of the organization to work together and build an inclusive culture for the film industry.

Christie cinema projectors will also be used for the adjudication of films nominated for the prestigious Golden Goblet Award for Best Film. During this period, more than 400 films from around the world will be screened in 41 cinemas located across Shanghai, including those equipped with the Cinity Cinema System and Dolby Cinema that utilize Christie’s projection technology to deliver spectacular visual experiences.

On June 9, the Christie CP4420-Xe cinema projector was deployed to screen the highly anticipated opening film Love Never Ends by Chinese director Han Yan, starring Dahong Ni and Kara Wai in the lead roles, with special performances by Hong Kong superstars Tony Leung Ka Fai and Cecilia Yip.

This is the first time that Christie’s advanced CineLife+ Series cinema projector was used at the SIFF.

The Christie CP4420-Xe will also screen the film festival’s closing film One and Only on June 17, which is expected to be attended by numerous international filmmakers and celebrities.

Currently in its 25th edition, the SIFF seeks to foster overseas partnerships by bringing together Chinese and foreign film professionals to explore issues such as technological innovation and international film cooperation. The film festival will also continue to uphold its philosophy of taking root in Asia, supporting new talents, gearing up to drive further development of Chinese films and boost confidence in global film art.

Founded in 1993, the SIFF is the only competitive film festival in China accredited by the Paris-based Fédération Internationale des Associations de Producteurs de Films. The festival focuses on awards, markets, forums, and film exhibitions so as to build an international platform and promote the development of the Chinese film industry.
