Ymagis Reports Fourth Quarter Revenues

Ymagis today reported its consolidated revenue figures for the fourth quarter of 2015. For the quarter, the group’s revenue amounted to €51.6 million, an increase of 20.7 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2014. For the 2015 fiscal year, the company generated cumulated revenue of €157.7 million, an increase of 86.4 percent over the prior year period on a reported basis, and an increase of 4.8 percent over the 2014 fiscal year pro forma.

MTI Film Restores The Power and the Glory

MTI Film, Hollywood recently completed the restoration of 20th Century Fox’s 1933 classic The Power and the Glory. The restored version of the film is currently submitted for a 2016 Focal International Award for Best Archive Restoration and Preservation Project. Directed by William K. Howard, The Power and the Glory tells the story of a ruthless railroad tycoon who works his way up from track walker to president of the company. The film is notable for a strong performance from a 33-year-old Spencer Tracy and for its script, the first produced by Preston Sturges.

Sony Pictures Talent Nominated for Sound Awards

Sound artists from Sony Pictures Entertainment are among the nominees for 2016 Motion Picture Sound Editor Golden Reel Awards and the 52nd Cinema Audio Society Awards. Sony Pictures talent are nominated in six categories of the MPSE Golden Reel Awards for work on the films Southpaw and Hotel Transylvania 2, and the television series Homeland, Saints and Strangers and True Detective. Sony Pictures talent also received eight nominations for CAS Awards for work on the film The Hateful Eight and Hotel Transylvania 2, and the television series True Detective and Silicon Valley.

Shooting Containment

The upcoming dramatic series Containment, slated for a mid-season premiere on the CW Television Network, follows an epidemic that breaks out in Atlanta, leaving the large city quarantined and those stuck on the inside fighting for their lives. The series was shot by co-directors of photography William Wages ASC and John Smith with four VariCam 35 4K camera/recorders.

Rodeo FX Wins VES Award

Rodeo FX has won a Visual Effects Society Award for its work on season five of Game of Thrones. The award for Outstanding Created Environment in an Episode honored the studio’s creation of the city of Volantis. Rodeo FX received the award last night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles and can add it to the VES Award it won last year for its work on Birdman.

Laika Names Bradley Wald CFO

Laika, the Portland-based feature film animation studio whose first three films have each garnered Oscar nominations for Best Animated Film, has appointed Bradley Wald to the post of chief financial officer and senior vice president of business operations. The announcement was made today by Laika president and CEO Travis Knight.
