Hula Post Supports The Jungle Book

In a project spanning nearly two years, Hula Post provided editorial systems, workflow engineering and technical support to Walt Disney Pictures for the production of The Jungle Book. Hula Post engineers set up and maintained editorial facilities at the studio’s production facility in Playa Vista; at Digital Domain, where motion capture elements were produced; and at Los Angeles Center Studios, where live action elements were captured. Additionally, it supported satellite-editing facilities at Sony Pictures Studios and Skywalker Sound, where sound work was completed.

Technicolor PostWorks Expands in Manhattan

Technicolor PostWorks has agreed to lease 50,000-plus square feet at 1411 Broadway, a 40-story tower in Midtown Manhattan. The lease term extends beyond 2026. The new facility, set to open early this summer, will house 120-plus editing rooms available to film and television productions for rental on long- or short-term bases. The facility will be directly linked with the company’s existing downtown finishing and sound facility network.

MPSE Honors Sam Raimi

The Motion Picture Sound Editors will honor Sam Raimi with its annual Filmmaker Award. The director of the blockbuster Spider-Man features and the low-budget horror classic The Evil Dead is being recognized for his outstanding contributions to the art of cinema. He will receive the award at the MPSE Golden Reel Awards ceremony February 27th in Los Angeles.

Spotlight Finished at PostFactoryNY

Spotlight, director Tom McCarthy’s powerful, new drama, tells the true story of the Boston Globe’s investigation of child molestation by Catholic priests and the subsequent cover-up by the local archdiocese. The film, released by Open Road Films, was edited by Tom McArdle in his fifth collaboration with McCarthy, dating back to 2003 and The Station Agent, the director’s feature debut. McArdle and his crew spent 10 months cutting Spotlight at PostFactoryNY’s facility, with eight months devoted to picture editing, and two to sound, music and visual effects.
