ASC Releases Cinema Display Evaluation Plan

The Technology Committee of the American Society of Cinematographers has published its Cinema Display Evaluation Plan and Test Protocol, which defines a method for the visual evaluation of parameters that characterize next generation cinema projection and active screens. As part of the industry’s move to high dynamic range and wide color gamut, the document represents the first step towards the goal of identifying where value is created from the filmmaker’s point-of-view. UPHE Distributing Iron Sky Sequel

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment Content Group will distribute Iron Sky The Coming Race, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2012 cult hit Iron Sky, across a range of international territories in 2017, including Germany, United Kingdom and France as well as a big part of the rest of Europe (excluding Scandinavia).

Defying the Nazis Premieres in September

Defying the Nazis: The Sharps' War, the latest Ken Burns film, recounts the story of Unitarian minister Waitstill Sharp (voiced by Tom Hanks) and his wife Martha, who left the safety of their Wellesley, Massachusetts home and family to rescue hundreds of political dissidents and Jewish refugees fleeing the Nazis. Defying the Nazis will be shown at select theaters in New York and Los Angeles, with a special screening at the White House as part of the administration's discussion of the Syrian refugee crisis. The documentary won a special jury prize at the Amsterdam Film Festival in 2012. Editor Erik Angra will be hosting a Q&A session for the film on September 10 at LA's Laemmle Theater.

Guitammer, Lumiere Expand Partnership

The Guitammer Company’s Beijing, China-based partner, Lumiere Pavilions has installed more than 4,600 Buttkicker-enabled seats across China. Lumiere recently placed a new order with Guitammer that covers 818 additional seats, which are all LD equipment upgrades to its current Guiyang, Beijing Qiaofu and Nanjing Hongyang theaters.

Roadshow Films Using Vista’s Numero to Track Box Office Results

Vista Group International’s cinema data measurement company Numero today announced the signing of Roadshow Films in Australia and New Zealand. Roadshow Films will use Numero’s services to track daily box office results in the Australasian market. Numero has developed its testing and building capabilities and is now delivering the product to the broader film distribution community.
