Goldcrest Post has completed a major upgrade to its sound department, expanding its capacity to deliver soundtracks in Dolby Atmos Home Theater format. State-of-the-art immersive sound technology has been added to the facility’s Studio A to accommodate streaming, broadcast and home theater projects requiring Atmos sound. Goldcrest’s largest mix stage, Studio Q, was upgraded to support Dolby Atmos Home Theater in 2018.
Goldcrest Post sound artists were honored for Sound Editing and Sound Mixing at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards for their work on Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit.

Emmy-nominated composer/playwright, novelist, musician and TV producer, Scooter Pietsch (pronounced peach) has created film and television music across the media landscape. Pietsch’s underscores, themes and original songs have graced thousands of TV series episodes including ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars, USA Network’s Burn Notice, USA ‘s All Dogs Go to Heaven and E!’s Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
Currently in worldwide release from Columbia Pictures, director Will Gluck’s Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway is the charming sequel to the 2018 hit about a bunny who’s a loveable rogue. Much of the creative team from the first film reunited for the new movie, including its award-winning sound team led by re-recording mixer Kevin O’Connell, supervising sound editor Robert Mackenzie and re-recording mixer/supervising Andy Wright.
“We are a little team of three here, so, we all wear many hats,” says Mirza Tahirovic, co-owner of Studio Chelia, a professional audio post-production facility in Sarajevo, Bosnia. “I’m a composer, sound editor and recording mixer, but I also do ADR recordings and other corrections when necessary.”
DTS today announced the first DTS:X quality control screening room in Japan has opened at Imagica Entertainment Media Services, Japan's largest post-production facility.
A trained pianist and saxophonist who studied music production at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Phil McGowan, CAS, knows a thing or two about the perfect piece of music. After having dabbled in writing and composing music, McGowan soon found that his true passion was in mixing and engineering, and he moved across the country to focus on score mixing. Today, McGowan can be found mixing, recording and engineering from his studio – McGowan Soundworks, where he works on highly popular TV shows, films and video games, such as Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War.
Sound and mastering engineer Fernando Richard, mixing engineer Ivan Markovic and sound designer Francisco Bissone recently teamed up to launch Immersive Audio Solutions in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The studio is designed to offer immersive sound solutions for a wide array of platforms. A Dolby Atmos-approved studio, IAS also has the capabilities of mixing for Sony 360 and Ambisonic formats.
“Sound is important in all films, but in a supernatural thriller, it’s gigantic,” says writer/director Evan Spiliotopoulos, talking about his new film The Unholy. “What you hear and what you don’t hear are essential to crafting scares.” The new Screen Gems thriller follows Alice, a young hearing-impaired girl who, after a supposed visitation from the Virgin Mary, is inexplicably able to hear, speak and heal the sick. As word spreads and people from near and far flock to witness her miracles, a disgraced journalist hoping to revive his career visits the small New England town to investigate.
